In order to use the on-line application for admission, you must be able to pay the $40 admission application fee by credit card by completing the on-line pay process at the end of the application form. If you apply for housing through this on-line application you must also be able to pay the $30 housing application fee by credit card. Transferring to the University of Oklahoma

Defined by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, transfer students are undergraduate students who have attended an accredited college or university and have attempted more than six semester hours, excluding remedial (pre-college) work or credit hours accumulated as a concurrently-enrolled high school student.

Application Deadlines

You are encouraged to submit your application for admission as soon as possible to maximize opportunities for housing, scholarships and financial aid. Applications for admission must be RECEIVED in the Office of Admissions by the dates below. A $40 non-refundable application fee is required of all domestic students.

College-Specific Transfer Information

It is critical for all transfer students to understand that admission to The University of Oklahoma does not guarantee that you will be able to pursue the major that you have selected. Many of OU's colleges, departments, and degree programs have additional requirements beyond University admission requirements that must be met in order for you to be accepted into your major program or take the coursework necessary to complete your degree. It is important that you familiarize yourself with your degree college's requirements by clicking on the appropriate college below.

Selecting courses that will transfer and apply toward an OU degree

To help in your educational planning, the Office of Admissions has developed course equivalency tables for the two-year and some four-year colleges in Oklahoma. These tables are also available through the OU Office of Admissions in 127 Buchanan Hall, 1000 Asp Avenue, Norman OK 73019-4076; (405) 325-2252.

Transfer courses that do not have an exact OU equivalent but have been approved for general education credit also appear on this list. If a transfer course has been approved for general education credit, the specific general education core area and component are listed next to the OU equivalent course column. Many majors require specific courses in the general education core areas. Please refer to the OU degree checksheet for major-specific requirements.

Courses that have no OU equivalent will still transfer to the University and often can be applied toward a degree. In some cases, they may substitute for required courses; in others, they may transfer as elective credit. How each course will apply toward an OU degree will be determined by the degree-recommending college within the University.

Oklahoma Two-Year College Transfer Students
You can use the course equivalency table for the college you are attending along with the degree requirement checksheet for your intended OU major to plan what courses to take that will apply toward a degree at OU. Just select the appropriate degree requirement sheet for your major, then check the course requirements listed on that sheet against the course equivalency table for the school you are currently attending or planning to attend.

Other Transfer Applicants
If a course equivalency table does not exist for your institution, you may contact the Office of Admissions' Transcript Evaluation Section or the OU Transfer Liaison at (405) 325-2252 for assistance in establishing course equivalencies. Depending on the number of course equivalencies you are requesting and the time of year, you may be asked to submit your request in writing.

Once you have been admitted to OU, the Office of Admissions does a complete evaluation of your transfer credit. If you are admitted with a semester in progress, you will need to provide the Admissions Office with an official transcript showing your final courses and grades, and they will be added to your transfer credit evaluation. You will be assigned an academic advisor who will work with you to determine how your transfer work will apply toward your OU degree and assist you in planning a schedule of classes for your first semester at OU.

If you are undecided about attending OU, you may request a prospective student transcript evaluation. However, if you are relatively certain that you plan to attend OU, it is to your advantage to apply for admission rather than to request a prospective student evaluation.
Here's how to schedule a prospective student transcript evaluation:

Call the Office of Admissions at (405) 325-2252 to make an appointment to have your transcripts evaluated.
Shortly before the appointment with Admissions, stop by the Visitor Center at Jacobson Hall, 550 Parrington Oval, where you'll be given a parking permit and directions to the Office of Admissions.
Bring official copies of your high school transcript and all college transcripts (one from each institution attended).
Visit with an academic advisor who will complete the transcript evaluation and answer questions concerning a degree at OU.

If you are unable to visit the campus, send a letter requesting a pre-admission evaluation, along with official transcripts from your high school and each college or university you've attended, to the Office of Admissions, 1000 Asp Avenue room 127, Norman, OK 73019-4076. In your letter please include your intended major, the names of all colleges attended, the term you plan to enter OU and your current address and phone number.

After You Have Been Admitted

Getting Advised and Enrolled - Advisement and enrollment procedures have been established by each college. Information on how to contact your college advisement office will be included with your letter of admission, or sent to you just prior to the first enrollment period for which you are eligible. If you are unsure which college you're in, please contact the Admissions office at 325-2252, 127 Buchanan Hall, or the Enrollment Services office at 325-3572, 230 Buchanan Hall.

Enrollment over the web - The online registration system allows students to browse the class schedules and enroll in courses over the web. Using your OU ID number, your OUNetID and your personal password, you can look at the class schedule information, build a trial schedule and enroll. Information is updated every 15 minutes and the system offers several search features that will help you find the courses you want.

Transfer Student Days - Transfer Student Days at the University of Oklahoma are specially planned to provide an opportunity for those transfer students who have already been admitted to the University for an upcoming summer or fall term to be advised and pre-enroll for the fall and/or summer. In addition, representatives from the University are also on hand to answer questions about housing, financial aid, scholarships and student activities. Other pre-enrollment periods for summer and fall terms occur throughout the late spring and summer months, so transfer students who are not admitted in time for the last Transfer Day will have ample opportunity to pre-enroll once they are admitted to the University.
